Workers Compensation Insurance Matters

Any CE who receives an invoice from the New York State Insurance Fund post audit of their payroll records should contact the Local 891 Compensation Insurance Chairman to arrange for a review of their account to determine the precise amount due the NYSIF before they pay that invoice. The amount due may differ from the actual amount owed.
Also any Custodian Engineer who receives an audit bill from the NYSIF and does not have sufficient funding in their HSBC account to pay the bill should contact the Local 891 Compensation Insurance Chairman immediately.  This is of particular importance if your NYSIF audit bill exceeds $10,000.00 to avoid collection activity against you.
Any CE that has not yet had a payroll audit by the NYSIF should also contact the Compensation Insurance Chairman for assistance as soon as possible. All Custodian Engineers must have an audit of their payrolls as part of the insurance cancellation process.
Regards,
Robert

Work Related Injuries / new or replacement helpers

Custodian Engineers should report custodial helper work related injuries directly to the NYSIF on their website.  They should indicate NYCSSS, Inc., where the employer is indicated.  You can use this link to report an injury, (NYSIF injury report).  Use the Policy Number X2395989-3 where requested.
Custodians Engineers should also notify the employer via an email to workerscomp@nycsss.org when they have entered an accident report.
Custodian Engineers who require new or replacement custodial helpers can request  candidates for available positions by contacting employmentopportunities@nycsss.org.
You may recommend candidates for employment to NYCSSS through the same email address.

Robert

Transition Bonus / Transfer List

Local 891 Member:
The official list of winners from Circular 2 2016/17 can be viewed by clicking on this link.  As required under our recent MOA, the Department has issued the second Vacancy List, which will follow the same special rules of the last list.  The winners from both lists will transfer on November 4, 2016.  You can expect an addendum to this list early next week.   After this list the rating and transfer process will revert to the procedures outlined in our CBA.
Every time we have a transfer list there is an average of twelve to fifteen people disqualified. Please do not let this happen to you! Review your application carefully. The top five reasons for disqualification are:

  1. Failure to sign the application (Requires an original hand signature)
  2. Late or no postmark date (No later than Tuesday, October 18, 2016 / Make certain your envelope is time stamped by the post office)
  3. No license(s) attached
  4. Expired License
  5. Hand delivery of an application is not acceptable (Applications must be mailed)
